Why no one is buying

Why No One Wants to Buy Your Offer (and How to Fix It)t

The Real Reason Your Sales Might Be Falling Flat and the One Strategy That Changes Everything

Let’s start with a truth bomb: No one wants your service.

Before you throw in the towel and tell yourself this is too hard, hear me out.

No one wants your training, your program, your package, your coaching, or your spreadsheet wizardry.

What they want is the result.

They want to feel better, look better, earn more, sleep easier, save time, or finally get unstuck.

So if you’re finding it hard to sell your work, your sales process might not be the issue. It might be your priming strategy.

What Does It Mean to "Prime" Your Audience?

Priming is the art of getting your ideal client ready to say yes before you ever pitch them.

You prime your audience by helping them:

  1. Recognize the need

  2. Believe they deserve a solution

  3. Trust that your offer will actually help them

If your marketing jumps straight to "buy now," but your audience hasn't mentally walked through those three steps, you're skipping the warm-up and wondering why the crowd's not cheering.

The Mistake Most Service-Based Business Owners Make

You know your service works. You know you can help. So you announce your offer and hope the right people will come running.

Except they don’t.

Why? Because most people don’t realize they need what you sell. Not yet.

Let me give you a personal example: I sell business coaching. But no one launches a business and immediately starts shopping for a business coach.

What they do experience is this:

  • Sleepless nights wondering if their business is even working

  • Doubt every time they look at their bank account

  • Frustration from spinning their wheels without traction

It’s only after feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and underpaid that they start to consider getting help. Even then, they hesitate.

So what do I do?

I prime them.

How I Prime My Audience

I create marketing that is authentic and shares what I know to be true:

  • Normalizes the struggle: I tell them it's not their fault they’re stuck. Most business owners were never taught how to scale or track profits.

  • Paints a better future: I show them that with the right tools, it’s totally possible to build a profitable business that supports their life.

  • Shifts the mindset: I help them see that doubt is common, but they don’t have to live there forever.

That’s priming. It’s making your audience feel seen, understood, and hopeful—so when I do invite them to join my program, they’re already halfway to yes.

Here is another example.

Let’s say you’re a branding photographer for business owners.

News flash: most entrepreneurs aren’t sitting around excited to book a photo shoot.

Why? Because it sounds like a hassle:

  • Choosing outfits

  • Finding time

  • Feeling confident on camera

  • Paying a premium price for "just" pictures

But they’re not buying pictures. They’re buying confidence, credibility, and conversion.

Your job is to educate them on how high-quality branding photos help them:

  • Raise their prices

  • Attract better-fit clients

  • Look more professional online

  • Build trust faster

When they understand that a professional photo shoot is a business growth strategy, that’s when they start leaning in.

That’s priming.

Why This Works: The Psychology of Readiness

People need time and context to make decisions. That’s why we binge reviews, watch videos, and read blogs before we hit “Add to Cart."

Your content needs to do the same for your service.

It needs to help people:

  • Feel safe

  • Feel smart

  • Feel hopeful

Think of it this way: if your offer is the proposal, then your content is the dating phase. You can’t propose on the first date (well, you can, but… you know how that usually goes).

How to Start Priming in Your Content

Here are 5 types of content you can create to start priming your audience today:

  1. Problem Normalization

    • Tell stories that show the struggle is common and solvable.

    • Example: “Most creative entrepreneurs aren’t charging enough. Not because they’re bad at business—but because they’ve never been taught how to price for profit.”

  2. Success Visualization

    • Help people picture the result.

    • Example: “Imagine waking up to new inquiries from clients who already trust you, because your website and photos do the selling for you.”

  3. Behind-the-Scenes

    • Share what your service actually looks like and the transformation it delivers.

    • Example: “Here’s how I helped one local florist triple her revenue in six months without hiring a single new team member.”

  4. Belief Shifting

    • Challenge limiting beliefs your audience has.

    • Example: “You don’t need to hustle harder. You need a better system.”

  5. Value Education

    • Teach people how your service directly impacts their goals.

    • Example: “Branding photography isn’t a splurge. It’s a signal to your clients that you take your business seriously.”

Final Thoughts: Stop Selling, Start Priming

When you stop trying to "sell" your service and instead start priming your audience to want it, everything changes.

Sales feel less awkward. Sales become a conversation.  The process feels more aligned with who you are. Marketing becomes more effective. And your audience starts to see you as the guide they’ve been looking for, not just another expert shouting into the void.

So the next time you wonder why your offer isn’t converting, ask yourself this:

Have I actually prepared them to say yes?

Because when people feel understood, empowered, and ready—they buy.
